This is the right energy for us. It is not about the money any more - it is about our own right to survive. Bankrupt financial system will not be able to cope with another recession after oil will pass 100 USD per barrel again. Listen to Jeff Rubin and listen carefully, please. Jim Puplava has put a new piece on Peak Oil on his webcast this week as well.

"Today everybody is exited about REE, tomorrow Peak Oil time will come and Lithium will make the headlines again. During excitement stage it is easy to make the wrong decision and chase the mini bubbles only to see them to pop - do not mistake the mega trends, Next Big Thing and parabolic rises. There is time to buy and time to sell. REE gives us a very good example - what can happen with a very small sector, when the all world depends on it. Peak Oil realisation will be next. With GM Voltand Nissan Leaf on the streets you will see the future - The Future is Electric."

BBC has exceeded today even its own monthly amount of misery in one episode covering electric cars on their, supposed to be bright day, of eco-friendly cars rally from Brighton to London. Now, finally, we have professionals advertising the idea about Electric Cars.

Tesla has attracted another interesting shareholder - Panasonic this time. Daimler has invested in Tesla first, then Toyota took a significant stake in the company. Now Panasonic is coming on board. Model S will be the main driver for the company, Toyota SUV RAV 4 Electric will be presented at Los Angeles Auto Show 2010 and Elon Musk has discussed recently Tesla Model X SUV.

"What will it take to realise that we are running out of cheap oil? Another crisis?
We are talking here about the powerful mega trend Inflation multiplied by Peak Oil situation - we have to move and readjust our society. Our Energy diet is not sustainable any more. We are lucky in a sense that there is technology available to us to survive the Oil Shock if we will all move fast - Electric Cars. It is our Next Big Thing and at the heart of this disruptive technology lie strategic commodities: REE and Lithium."

Panasonic to acquire stake in Tesla Motors - Nikkei

Nov 4 (Reuters) - Japanese electronics maker Panasonic Corp (6752.T) will acquire a small stake in Tesla Motors Inc (TSLA.O) and jointly develop electric-vehicle batteries with the U.S. electric vehicle (EV) maker, the Nikkei business daily reported.

The company, which had signed an agreement in January to supply lithium ion batteries for Tesla's electric cars, aims to work with Tesla to develop battery systems for next-generation EVs, the daily said.
Panasonic will likely announce the capital tie-up with Tesla as early as Thursday, the daily reported.
The Japanese company's share purchase will likely be smaller than Toyota Motor Corp's (7203.T) $50 million investment in Tesla, resulting in a several percent interest in the U.S. firm, the paper said.
Panasonic and Tesla will likely work together to develop technologies for utilizing lithium ion battery systems efficiently, since Tesla's electric cars are powered by several thousand cylindrical-shaped lithium ion batteries, the Nikkei reported. "China is taking Electric Cars very seriously. Just over the weekend we were listening to Jim Puplava with Puru Saxena discussing Peak Oil situation and how China is moving fast to mitigate the situation. Thousands of miles of high speed railway system are built now, connecting all major cities in China with latest trains as fast as 400km/h. There is a plan now to connect China by high speed railway system with Singapore - China is facilitating the move from the airlines and to the high speed trains, which could be powered by electricity.

Electric car is the solution for the ground transportation and with billions of dollars invested in electric cars now we have the major catalyst in the making."

Sanyo eyes tenfold increase in lithium ion battery capacity

KASAI, Japan--Sanyo Electric, which makes hybrid vehicle batteries for Ford and Honda, targets a tenfold increase in lithium ion battery production capacity in five years.

The company also aims to slash manufacturing costs by half in that time in its bid to become a leader in next-generation power packs for green cars, President Seiichiro Sano said.
Speaking last week at the opening of Sanyo's battery factory in this western Japanese city, Sano predicted hybrid and electric vehicles will account for 10 to 15 percent of all new-car sales in 2020. Sanyo wants at least 30 percent of that global market, he said.
Limited lithium ion battery production began at Kasai in July, with initial capacity of 1 million cells a month. Sanyo aims to raise that capacity to 10 million cells by 2015.
Sanyo did not say how many vehicles 10 million cells could supply. But it could be enough for 125,000 hybrid vehicles a month, judging by the output of its Tokushima factory.
The Tokushima plant, which opened last year for trial production, was Sanyo's first facility making lithium ion batteries for cars. It has enough capacity for 100,000 cells a month, or enough for 15,000 hybrid vehicles a year. There are roughly 80 cells per battery pack.
Sanyo has agreements to supply Volkswagen AG, Audi AG, and Suzuki Motor with lithium ion batteries. The Tokushima plant will supply lithium ion batteries for an Audi hybrid scheduled to go on sale next year, officials said. The company also is expected to supply lithium ion batteries to Toyota.
Sanyo already is supplying hybrid vehicles by Ford Motor and Honda Motor with older-generation nickel-metal hydride batteries. Sanyo has also agreed to cooperate on development of nickel-metal hydride batteries with Volkswagen, Audi, and France's PSA Peugeot Citroen.
Lithium ion batteries are seen as key to making more practical hybrid and electric vehicles because they are lighter and more powerful than the nickel-metal hydride batteries currently used.
Many Japanese carmakers have tried to bring battery making in-house by forming joint ventures with electronics companies. Nissan, Toyota, Honda, and Mitsubishi have followed this model, teaming with such companies as NEC, Panasonic, and GS Yuasa.
But Sanyo is one of Japan's top independent hopefuls, choosing to play the field. Kasai's five-floor lithium ion battery building contains research and development facilities and two manufacturing lines. It will be the focal point of Sanyo's next-generation battery business.
The plant is doing test runs and will deliver its first products for use in 2012, said Hiroshi Ikeuchi, vice president in charge of Sanyo's hybrid electric vehicle division. With Kasai up and running, lithium ion batteries account for 30 percent of Sanyo's battery capacity and nickel-metal hydride the rest, Ikeuchi said. But that is expected to flip-flop by 2020, with lithium ion battery output claiming 80 to 90 percent of total output."

Lithium Metal Polymer Battery from DBM Energy - Secret of The World Record With Electric Car Revealed tnr.v, rm.v, lmr.v, alk.ax, tsla, sqm, fmc, roc, lit, li.v, wlc.v, clq.v, res.v, ree, avl.to, nsany, f, gm, rno.pa, dai, byddf, hev, aone, vlnc

Last week we saw the news on numerous websites about the new magic battery from German start up DBM Energy, which allows to power an Electric Car for...600 km! We were digging the information and now can tell you - that if this information will be confirmed - we have a breakthrough in lithium  battery technology. We do not know the cost of this battery at this moment, its specific power and other specs, but claims are so impressive, that we still need further confirmation and verification by the third parties.

Over 300 Wh/kg - to put it in perspective - Nissan Leaf 24 kWh battery will be in this case 80 kg! Now weight of the battery pack for Nissan Leaf is 300kg. Renault Fluence 22 kWh battery weight is 250 kg.

Lifetime of 2500 Charge cycles without degradation - if you drive 200km every day and have to charge this battery every 3 days - you have 20 years of lifespan of this battery! Everything with a solid 10 year warranty will work for Electric Cars mass market. Solution so far was 8 year warranty by GM Volt and Nissan Leaf and Renault actually announced that they will lease the lithium batteries - we called it the breakthrough for EV mass market at the time.

6 min charge time for 100 kWh - it is important to know with what kind of a fast charger it was done, but in anyway - if battery can sustain 2500 cycles with this kind of fast charger - it is another breakthrough. Question will in Charging Infrastructure, but it is 6 min for 100 kWh - too good to be true.

and it is ... LMP Lithium Metal Polymer!

Even if these claims will be true by only half in a normal market and industrial conditions we, maybe, have already stepped in another era for EVs. Lithium and REE resources will gain their strategic importance overnight now. Confirmation of these claims by DBM Energy means that we can move today to Electric Cars, even without the claimed cost advantage vs "normal" lithium cells technology. Even if the price now will happen to be the same as known technology - mass market production of electric cars will bring prices of the batteries down faster than 8% per year according to Elon Musk from Tesla Motors.

Engadget:

DBM Energy's electric Audi A2 completes record setting 372 mile drive on a single charge

116 miles in an electric vehicle? No problem. But you'll quite literally be pushing your new Nissan Leaf another 250 miles to achieve what's being hailed as a world record in Germany. Little Lekker Mobil, a four-seat Audi A2 refitted with an experimental electric powerplant as part of a government sponsored project with Germany's lekker Energie and DBM Energy, just completed a 372-mile (600-km) stretch of road between Munich and Berlin on a single charge, a journey that lasted around seven hours. Even with the heater running, the modified A2 with fully usable trunk arrived with spare electricity in the "tank." The battery uses DBM Energy's KOLIBRI AlphaPolymer Technology said to be 97 percent efficient and chargeable from virtually any socket -- plug it into a high voltage DC source and it can be fully charged in just six minutes according to the car's driver and battery inventor, Mirko Hannemann. While Hannemann wouldn't be pinned down on pricing for the battery, the 27 year old did say that it would be more powerful and cheaper than conventional lithium ion batteries. He even went so far as to suggest that his company was ready to begin mass production of the batteries now -- presumably aided by the large sacks of money he'll be handed after pulling off the record breaking stunt."

"Why ...

... Lithium is the new star in heaven battery?

... is the lithium polymer technology superior to others?

... HUMMINGBIRD is the technology renaissance of mobility?

"- Secure pathways to the future of electric vehicles" on the Registrar Summit
Chancellor Angela Merkel insisted the desire of Germany to lead market electric vehicles in Germany and the will to innovate. Just two months later appear to aversieren reports of major auto companies to the contrary.

So bought Daimler in China and USA, Volkswagen and BMW also drive more and more with foreign batteries and all with German funding? None of the companies in their actions shows real interest in battery technologies, which are virtually on their doorstep. Instead, they always give the advantages of conventional Verbrennertechnologie for the best.

The DBM is now publishing a book of presentation showing the current state of battery technology for electric vehicles and industrial power supply and raises the question why is the electric vehicles from becoming even when the battery is not the problem?

Important issues that were worked up by using scientific studies, they form the basis for the book "Lithium - A new era of energy storage". The book compares the lithium polymer-based technology to conventional batteries, as well as conventional lithium-ion batteries, and shows how the new technology applications that will be seen only by lobbyists in the distant future, already makes it possible.
